How the Charitable Donation Scheme Works

If you are an Irish taxpayer, you can help Oranmore Parish claim a tax refund on your donations at no extra cost to you.

Under Revenue’s Charitable Donation Scheme, if your total donations to the parish amount to €250 or more in a calendar year, the parish can claim back tax on that amount (effectively boosting a €250 donation to over €330 at the standard tax rate).

• Who qualifies? Anyone who pays Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax in Ireland. Even if you are retired or on a pension, as long as you pay enough tax to cover the rebate amount, your donations qualify.
• No extra cost: You don’t pay a single cent extra—the tax rebate comes directly from Revenue out of the tax you have already paid.

The CHY3 Enduring Certificate

To allow the parish to claim this tax back under Revenue rules, we require a completed CHY3 Enduring Certificate signed by the donor.

• What is a CHY3 Form? It is a simple certificate that remains valid for 5 years, covering your donations for that entire period without needing a new form every year.
• Your PPS Number: Revenue requires your PPS number solely for the purpose of validating the tax claim. All personal data and PPS numbers are handled securely and strictly in accordance with GDPR guidelines, used exclusively for Revenue submissions.

How to Get Involved

1. Register: If you aren’t already registered with the parish, please contact the parish office or complete a parish registration form.
2. Complete a CHY3 Form: If your annual contributions reach or are expected to reach €250, we will gladly provide a CHY3 form for you to sign and return.
